The Toronto-Dominion Bank (Banque Toronto-Dominion), known as TD Bank Group, is the second largest Canadian bank by assets, market capitalization and deposits. It is also one of the 10 largest banks in the U.S. With over 89,000 employees, it maintains approximately 1,090 retail branches and 3,450 ATMs across Canada, and 1,240 stores and 2,640 ATMs in the United States, located in 15 states across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Florida, the Carolinas and Metro D.C. The company offers retail, commercial and investment banking services including chequing accounts, high interest savings accounts, direct investing cash accounts, personal and small business loans, mortgages, auto loans, student lines of credit, mutual funds, guaranteed investment certificates (GICs), tax-free savings accounts, retirement savings plans, retirement income options, registered education savings plans as well as credit protection, travel medical insurance, life insurance and disability insurance. Toronto-Dominion Bank's shares are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol "TD", with a market capitalization of US$80 billion as of June 1, 2020. The company was formed in 1955 by the merger of the Bank of Toronto and Dominion Bank, which were established in 1855 and 1869, respectively. As of January 31, 2020, TD Bank Group had total assets of C$1,457 billion, total deposits of C$908 billion, total loans of C$693 billion, shareholders' equity of C$89 billion and over 26 million customers worldwide. Assets under management (AUM) and assets under administration (AUA) were C$424 billion and C$468 billion, respectively. TD Bank was named the second safest bank in North America after Royal Bank of Canada by Global Finance.
