Canadian Western Bank (CWB), based in Edmonton, Alberta, is a Schedule I chartered bank providing a diverse range of products and services nationwide. It offers specialty banking products for small- and medium-sized companies, trust services and wealth management as well as personal banking services. The bank's offerings are business accounts, commercial lending, equipment financing and leasing, real estate construction and project financing, business credit cards, cash-management and Agriculture Banking, among others. The personal banking products include chequing and savings accounts, fixed and variable rate mortgages, vehicle and RRSP loans, insurance and investment products, debit and credit cards, mobile and online banking and more. CWB is a member of the Canadian Bankers Association, Interac, Cirrus and Maestro networks and The Exchange Network. Canadian Western Bank and its subsidiaries are known as CWB Financial Group. The company was created in 1988 and today employs approximately 2,500 people and operates 39 banking centres. In 2020, CWB acquired TE Wealth and Leon Frazer & Associates. As of July 31, 2024, CWB Financial Group had total assets of $43 billion, deposits of $33 billion and shareholders' equity of $4.3 billion. CWB shares are traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), with a market capitalization of $5.7 billion at November 15, 2024. In June 2024, National Bank of Canada announced that it would buy Canadian Western Bank. The deal is expected to close in 2025.
