Prudential Financial Inc (NYSE: PRU), headquartered in Newark, New Jersey, is the largest insurance company in the United States with $815 billion in assets, $1.38 trillion in funds under management, $4 trillion in gross life insurance in force and over 50,000 employees. It is also the second largest U.S. insurer by net premiums written. It offers a wide array of products and services including term life and universal life insurance, variable and fixed annuities as well as pension, retirement and investment products. Metlife, based in New York City, is the second-largest insurance company in the nation by assets and the largest by direct premiums. In 2018, the company generated total revenue of $67.9 billion including premiums of $44 billion. As of June 17, 2019, it had a market capitalization of $46 billion.
