Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC), headquartered in Toronto, is one of the leading financial institutions in North America. The Bank has approximately 990 domestic branches (banking centres), 3,000 ATMs, 48,500 employees and over 14 million customers. It operates through the following business lines: Canadian Personal & Business Banking, Canadian Commercial Banking & Wealth Management, U.S. Commercial Banking & Wealth Management and Capital Markets. CIBC was the first major Canadian bank to offer mobile cash management App for iPhone and BlackBerry smartphone. In 2019, CIBC acquired Milwaukee-based boutique investment bank Cleary Gull and St. Louis-based private wealth manager Lowenhaupt Global Advisors. Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce was formed in 1961 through the merger of The Canadian Bank of Commerce (est. 1867) and the Imperial Bank of Canada (est. 1875). Today, CIBC is one of the five safest banks in North America, according to Global Finance.
