Banco de Bogotá, S.A. (or Bank of Bogota, BdB) provides a broad range of financial products and services to individuals, SMEs and large companies. It offers current and savings accounts, personal and mortgage loans, commercial lending, debit and credit cards, microfinance services, insurance, pension products, factoring and leasing, investment and advisory services, securities brokerage, real estate services, mobile and online banking, foreign currency exchange and more. It is one of the leading financial institutions in Colombia and Central America, with about 10 million clients, 470 branches, 1,600 ATMs and more than 15,700 employees. It has a regional presence in Panama as well as agencies in New York and Miami (USA). The company was established in 1870 and is the oldest bank in Colombia. In 2010, Banco de Bogota acquired BAC Credomatic Inc, a Central American banking group that has operations in Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, the Bahamas, Panama and the Cayman Islands. In 2022, Banco de Bogota completed BAC Holding International’s spin-off to its shareholders, retaining a 25% ownership. In 2023, BdB closed its Bahamas subsidiary, Banco de Bogotá (Nassau) Limited. As of September 30, 2024, Banco de Bogotá reported total assets of COP 138.6 trillion (US$33 billion) and deposits of COP 91 trillion. The company’s shares are traded on the Colombian Stock Exchange (Bolsa de Valores de Colombia, BVC), with a market capitalization of about US$2.4 billion as of January 2025. Banco de Bogota is the primary subsidiary of Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores S.A., the largest financial services group in Colombia. Grupo Aval is controlled by Colombian billionaire Luis Carlos Sarmiento.
