Bupa (British United Provident Association Ltd), headquartered in London, is an international healthcare specialist providing products and services to individuals, corporates and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around the world. Bupa has operations in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Spain, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Hong Kong, India, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye. The company serves over 50 million clients globally including 30 million health insurance customers. Bupa maintains more than 120 care homes in the UK, Richmond care villages and over 50 care homes in Australia. It also operates 390 private and NHS dental practices across the UK, 50 health clinics in the UK, 20 hospitals in Spain, Chile and Poland as well as the Cromwell Hospital in London. The company was established in 1947 and today employs over 87,000 people. Health insurance (also called private medical insurance) represents over 70% of Bupa's revenue. For the year ended December 31, 2023, the company had underlying profit before tax of £599 million, total revenue of £15.1 billion, gross insurance premiums of £11 billion and total assets of £16 billion.
