HSBC Bank Canada, headquartered in Vancouver, was the largest foreign bank in Canada. It employed approximately 5,800 people and operated through a network of about 130 branches and offices in all provinces of Canada. The company offered a wide spectrum of retail, commercial and corporate banking services including chequing accounts, high-yield and tax-free savings accounts, foreign currency accounts, personal loans, lines of credit, fixed and variable rate mortgages, low rate credit cards, overdraft protection, term deposits, mobile and online banking, foreign exchange and money transfers. It also offered mutual funds, retirement products, guaranteed investment certificates (GIC), wealth management, self-directed online investing, education and private wealth planning, travel insurance, small business lending, commodities and structured trade finance and other services. The company was established in 1981 and operated as a subsidiary of British HSBC Holdings. As of December 31, 2023, HSBC Bank Canada had $119 billion in total assets, $83 billion in customer deposits and $74 billion in loans.

In November 2022, HSBC Holdings agreed to sell its banking business in Canada to Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). RBC acquired 100% of the common shares of HSBC Canada for a base cash consideration of over US$13 billion. The sale of HSBC Bank Canada and its subsidiaries was completed in March 2024.
