CIMB Group Holdings Berhad is the second-largest banking group in Malaysia by assets and one of the largest Islamic and investment banks in Asia. The company provides a comprehensive range of retail, commercial and wholesale banking services as well as Islamic banking and wealth management through about 590 branches including 217 branches in Malaysia. CIMB is the leading ASEAN bank with presence in 16 markets including Southeast Asian countries as well as China, Hong Kong, India, South Korea and the United Kingdom. In 2017, CIMB Group exited from Australia’s investment banking sector and closed its offices in Sydney and Melbourne. The company was established in 1974 and today has around 26 million customers and 33,000 employees across ten countries. As of September 30, 2024, the Group reported US$168 billion in total assets, US$99 billion in customer deposits, US$98 billion in gross loans and US$15 billion in shareholders’ funds. The company’s shares are listed on Bursa Malaysia, with a market capitalization of nearly US$20 billion at February 4, 2025.
