Fidelity Investments (previously known as Fidelity Management & Research) is a privately-owned investment firm headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the world's third largest asset manager, with discretionary assets under management (AUM) of $5.9 trillion and assets under administration (AUA) of over $15 trillion as of December 31, 2024. The company has over 50 million individual customers, nine million clearing & custody accounts and more than 215 investor centers across the United States. Fidelity maintains presence across North America, Asia, Australia and Europe including offices in Canada (Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver), Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland and the UK. Abigail Pierrepont Johnson is chief executive officer and president of Fidelity Investments as well as chair of Fidelity International Ltd (FIL). The company was founded in 1946 by Edward Crosby Johnson II and today employs more than 77,000 people. FMR LLC is the parent company of various Fidelity entities.
