Mountain America Credit Union

Mountain America Credit Union (MACU) is the second largest credit union in the state of Utah and the ninth largest credit union in the United States by asset size. It provides savings, checking, money market and individual retirement accounts, Visa debit and credit cards, personal and vehicle loans, mortgages, home equity lines of credit (HELOCs), free student checking account with rewards, business banking, wealth management, retirement planning, insurance, mobile and online banking, foreign currency exchange and other financial services. As of October 2021, MACU no longer offers student loans. The company was established in 1934 as the Salt Lake Telephone Employees Credit Union. In 1984, it merged with Postal Workers Credit Union and was renamed Mountain America Credit Union. As of June 30, 2024, MACU had $19.6 billion in total assets, $17 billion in deposits and $1.8 billion in members’ equity.
