National Bank of Greece S.A. (NBG) is one of the Big Four banks in the country. With more than 6 million clients, it offers a full array of products and services to retail and business customers including savings and current accounts, mortgages, personal and auto loans, green loans, debit cards, credit and prepaid cards, investment products, private and premium banking, bancassurance, pension plans, mutual funds, eco solutions, asset and liquidity financing, import - export and trade finance, corporate cash management, project finance, securities, advisory and treasury services, mobile and online banking, foreign exchange, money transfers, safe deposit boxes and much more. The company maintains about 360 local branches and 1,480 ATMs in every corner of Greece as well as international offices and subsidiaries in Cyprus, Romania, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Bulgaria and North Macedonia and representative office in Melbourne (Australia). The Group ceased its operation in Egypt, Malta and NBG London branch. Established in 1841 by Greek banker Georgios Stavros and Swiss banker Jean-Gabriel Eynard, NBG today employs approximately 7,630 people. In 2016, National Bank of Greece sold its London-based private equity and venture capital investment firm NBGI Private Equity Ltd to Stage Capital. As of September 30, 2024, National Bank of Greece had total assets of €74 billion, customer deposits of €57 billion, customer loans of €34 billion and shareholders’ equity of €8.3 billion. The company’s shares are traded on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE or ATHEX), with a market capitalization of €7.7 billion as of February 14, 2025.
