Investec plc operates through two core areas: Specialist Banking and Wealth & Investment. The company employs approximately 8,500 people and offers discretionary wealth and assets management, treasury and advisory solutions, transactional banking, stockbroking, retirement and succession planning, deposit raising services, mortgages, offshore borrowing, portfolio lending, online banking, foreign exchange and more. Investec Bank plc (IBP) is the principal banking subsidiary of Investec plc. Another subsidiary Wealth & Investment Ltd is one of the largest private client investment managers in the United Kingdom. Investec Asset Management business (IAM) was demerged and separately listed as Ninety One in 2020. Investec was established in 1974 and is listed on the Johannesburg and London stock exchanges, with a market capitalization of GBP 4.9 billion as of January 23, 2024.

In September 2023, Investec Group successfully completed the all-share combination of Investec Wealth & Investment Ltd and Rathbones Group Plc with creating the UK’s leading discretionary wealth manager. The new entity will have about £100 billion in funds under management and administration (FUMA).
