UBI Banca

UBI Banca SpA (or Unione di Banche Italiane SpA) was one of the top 10 banking groups in Italy. It operated through approximately 1,600 domestic branches and employed 19,530 people. The branch network was concentrated in Calabria, Apulia, Basilicata, Campania, Marche, Liguria, Lombardy and Piedmont. The company was founded in 2007 by the merger of Banche Popolari Unite and Banca Lombarda e Piemontese. In 2016-2018, the following units were incorporated into UBI Banca: Banca Popolare di Bergamo, Nuova Banca delle Marche, Banca Popolare Commercio e Industria, Banca Regionale Europea, Banco di Brescia, Banca Popolare di Ancona, Nuova Banca dell'Etruria e del Lazio, Banca di Valle Camonica, Banca Carime, and Nuova Cassa di Risparmio di Chieti. The Group's specialist companies included UBI Pramerica SGR S.p.A. (asset manager), UBI Leasing, UBI Factor (factoring) and IW Bank Private Investments (online bank). As of March 31, 2020, Unione di Banche Italiane S.p.A. had €126.5 billion in total assets, €71.4 billion in customer deposits and €86 billion in loans. UBI Banca’s shares were listed on the Milan Stock Exchange (Borsa Italiana S.p.A.), with a market capitalization of €3.6 billion as of July 15, 2020.
In August 2020, UBI Banca merged into its rival Intesa Sanpaolo Group.
