HSBC Continental Europe S.A. (HBCE), formerly known as HSBC France, is an indirectly held subsidiary of HSBC Holdings plc. With about 10,000 employees, the company offers a broad array of products and services to individuals and business customers including savings and current accounts, personal and commercial loans, mortgage services, debit and credit cards, student loans and student accounts as well as private banking, wealth management, mobile, online and phone banking, international payments and foreign exchange. It also offers life and property/casualty insurance, retirement solutions and other services. HSBC entered in the French market after acquiring Crédit Commercial de France (CCF) in 2000, which was subsequently rebranded to HSBC France. In December 2020, HSBC France became HSBC Continental Europe. Today, the company serves approximately 900,000 clients through 279 branch locations in France and 10 branches in Europe including Spain, Ireland, Greece, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Sweden and Poland. It also has two subsidiaries in Germany and Malta. For the financial year ended December 31, 2022, HSBC Continental Europe reported total assets of €280 billion, customer loans of €42 billion, total deposits of €84 billion and shareholders’ equity of €12 billion.
