The Chorley and District Building Society is an independent mutual organisation providing a range of mortgage products for all types of borrowers. It also offers great savings accounts and intermediary and protection services. Founded in 1859 to help mill workers buy their houses, The Chorley is the oldest building society in Lancashire, England. Unlike many banks, the Society has no shareholders and is not listed on the stock exchange. Today, it has 60 full-time equivalent employees and approximately 27,000 members. For the year ended February 5, 2024, Chorley Building Society reported total income of £7.2 million, profit before taxation of £0.4 million, mortgages (loans and advances to customers) of £312 million, shares and deposits of £367 million and total assets of £406 million. The Chorley Building Society was awarded a five star rating in the Mortgage Broker Feedback survey by Smart Money People.
