BlackRock is independent publicly traded company with a market capitalization of $104 billion as of June 30, 2023. Vanguard Group, based in Malvern, Pennsylvania, is the second largest asset management firm in the world. The company is a privately owned investment manager with 20 locations worldwide and 19,000 employees. It offers a wide range of low-cost mutual funds, ETFs, advice and other services. Vanguard is the second-largest provider of exchange-traded funds and the largest provider of mutual funds globally. Seven of the top 10 asset management firms are U.S. investment companies.
